Before construction, the home had a small existing covered patio located directly outside the back doors.

Rather than changing the pool or redesigning the entire backyard, the goal was to work with what was already there and create a patio cover that complemented both the home and the existing pool.

The home’s existing architecture includes several rooflines, brickwork, and traditional details. The new patio cover needed to feel proportional to the house while providing considerably more usable space below.

The finished design features two large gables connected by a covered center section, creating an expansive patio that stretches across the backyard.

The two gables also give the structure height and architectural interest without making the covered area feel enclosed.

The new layout creates multiple areas underneath one cohesive patio cover.

There is now plenty of protected space for outdoor seating, a dining table, and gathering areas overlooking the pool. Instead of having furniture scattered across exposed sections of the patio, the homeowners can create distinct outdoor living zones while keeping everything connected.
